The biggest names in video gaming are surefire ways to get people to buy certain games; you can be certain that whatever Rockstar make next, it will sell like crazy. A developer that has not been as lucky with their games is Ubisoft, a name that strikes fear into anyone who plays video games. Things aren’t as bad as things seem, and there is definitely potential, but they just haven’t capitalised on it. This is Asgard4Nerds, and here are five games Ubisoft should make, to revive their company. 

1. Assassin’s Creed

When the franchise was first released, it was a fresh idea, allowing you to do revision for you History GCSE whilst taking in a beautiful environment. The problem with this, is that it has been repeated a minimum of nine times, just in a different time period. It became a stale formula rather than a rewarding narrative. What it should be, is a continuing narrative stretching from mythology (Greek and Norse), going to Pirates, Medieval England, World War II, and so on. It makes the scenes in the present relevant, and allows us to still get the Animus. The final game would be one based in the present, with the main protagonist using the skills that’ve learnt in order to take down the Templars, once and for all. The games can be: Troy, Ragnorok, Syndicate Remake, Black Flag Remake, Unity Remake, Liberations Remake and Legacy. 

2. Watch_Dogs Legion

Although the second game was decent, the third instalment needs to reinvent the hacking mechanic, maybe introducing one that allows you to hack people. A storyline that doesn’t feature simple characters, I would recommend hiring outside writers as Ubisoft don’t seem able to make a decent plotline that deviates from a formula. Simply doing things differently, offering what was promised, would definitely be able to solidify the franchise.

3. A Hunger Games Inspired Game

Fortnite is the closest we’ve gotten, but we haven’t actually had a game explicitly based on Suzanne Collins universe. First of all, this game should be about the first Hunger Games, someone from District Seven. Charting their journey similar to how it’s done with Katniss, it culminates with them in the Hunger Games. Twelve maps, randomly spawning weapons, random opponents who can actually think for themselves,and they’d have a decent game. You could add a class system if they wanted an online multiplayer. Licensing may be a problem, but you could link it to the upcoming Hunger Games film/book.

4. Task Force X

A Suicide Squad game was cancelled by Rocksteady, but could form the next part of the universe. If Ubisoft struck up a deal, they could choose their own team of villains, merging with the Arkham universe in order to make a game that already has fan appeal. Introducing a twenty-four villains, a mixture of already established characters, and new ones, they could let the player assemble their own team of six, adding an element of customisation. Of course it depends on licensing, but it could be worth a go. It could spawn a larger extended gaming universe, one that would provide plenty of games in the future. 

Ubisoft became one of the greatest villains of Video Gaming, but that’s cooled off thanks to Electronic Arts. Nevertheless, they need a win, and this was just a few ideas for games that they could do.
